I hope you are all staying safe and like me are wondering when we will be able to bowl again.
I would like to update you on the situation with the greens. We are following the advice of Bowls England and the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) to make sure that our greens are maintained in as good a condition as possible during the current situation. We are also following the UK Government’s advice on social distancing and unnecessary travel. To this ed only Glyn and Trefor are carrying out work on the greens and surrounding area. The rest of the Greens Team, under the Government scheme, are on “furlough” although 80% of £0.00 is still zero, so nothing has changed there! (apologies to David Ryde-Rogers for borrowing that)
The ”roadside” path of the top green has been re-laid to remove a possible trip hazard. We should all find it a bit safer when we next play a game in the direction away from the Club House.
We have received a few thoughts/suggestions on how we could make use of the greens during this time. However, I can positively say there are no plans to dig up the bottom green and plant potatos!
Finally, I am reliably informed that the greens are looking in really good condition, so my thanks go to both Glyn and Trefor for their continued hard work.
Keep well and stay safe. I look forward to meeting you all at the Club before too long
