Devizes is situated in the heart of Wiltshire so visiting our club could be a great opportunity to enjoy some of our local heritage as well as great bowling.
Avebury Stone Circle & Silbury Hill are within a short drive of Devizes. Avebury is one of Europes largest prehistoric stone circles consisting of huge Sarsen standing stones arranged in inner and outer circles. Over the centuries many have been used in the construction of the nearby village. Situated on the nearby A4, Silbury Hill is a large man made mound some 130 feet high with a base area of over 5 acres. This imposing structure is thought to be more than 4000 years old. Accross the road and within walking distance lie the Kennet Long Barrows each being in the region of 100 metres long, these are believed to date from 3600 BC and to date around 46 burials have been excavated.
A short drive away is the wonderful village of Lacock with it's historic Abbey which houses the Fox Talbot museum
