Devizes Bowls Club - In The Heart Of Our Community

       HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

          CLUB MEMBERS INVOLVEMENT

It is in the best interests of all club members and visitors that the subject of health and safety should be borne in mind by all. The Management committee has carried out a survey of the club and instigated a number of measures to provide the safest enviroment possible for the occupiers of the premises, but the standard can only be maintained and possibly improved by the full co-operation of all who use the facilities.

Whilst the building and general contents will obviously be the responsibilty of the Management Committee to maintain in good order Members must also play their part by making sure that they personally do not do anything that may create a hazard for others. For instance the gangway and walkways around the greens must always be kept clear of obstacles such as bowling gear, glass bottles etc. This particularly applies to in the covered way alongside the clubhouse.  Taking this a stage further it should be appreciated by everyone, whilst the club management is responsible for a safe enviroment in the club, anyone person who creats a hazard which results in someone else sustaining an injury will lay themselves open to a claim for compensation. The club is covered by insurance for such possibilities, but are you? Your thoughtless action could result in serious problems for you and everyone should be aware of this possibility and do nothing that may result in this situation arising.

In this day and age it regrettably a fact that compensation claims are becoming the norm.

                                   PLEASE PLAY YOU PART
