|The Committee shall be called Devizes Bowls Club Bowls Committee, hereafter to be referred to as “the Committee” and shall be responsible for the smooth running of all Bowls related activities within the Club.|
|To foster and promote bowls at all levels, providing opportunities for recreation and competitive bowling so ensuring that all Bowlers are given the opportunity to reach their full potential. The committee will also provide the opportunity to play Short Mat Bowls during the winter months.|
The Committee shall consist of :-

8. Club & Community Liaison Officer – position added at Annual Meeting Nov 2015
9. Men’s Captain
10. Ladies Captain
11. Men’s Vice Captain

and shall be elected at the Annual Meeting to hold office for the term of their elected period.
The Club Contact, appointed by the Club’s Management Committee, shall also be a member of the Committee and shall have full voting rights.
Candidates for election to the Committee shall be those members of the retiring Committee eligible to offer themselves for re-election and such other full members whose nominations (duly proposed and seconded in writing by Full members of the Club) with their consent shall have been received by the Bowls Committee Secretary at least twenty eight days before the Annual Meeting each year. Such nominations, together with the names of the Proposer and Seconder shall be posted to the Club premises at least fourteen days prior to the date of the Annual Meeting.
If the number of candidates for each Office is greater than the vacancy to be filled then there shall be a ballot of those members present and entitled to vote at the Annual Meeting.
If the number of candidates for election is equal to or less than the number of vacancies to be filled then all candidates shall be deemed to be elected if majority of those present at the Annual Meeting, and entitled to vote, vote in favour of such election.
In the event of the ballot failing to determine an Office because of an equality of votes the candidate to be elected shall be determined by lot or the previously nominated person (normally the Chairman).
If, for any reason, a casual vacancy shall occur, the Committee may co-opt another person to fill such a vacancy until the next Annual Meeting. Co-opted Members will be entitled to vote.
The committee may co-opt other people on to the committee for specific, operational reasons (which shall be quoted and minuted) as and when required and they shall attend meetings of the Committee and have a vote on equal terms with elected members for the period they are on the Committee.
The committee shall endeavour to meet monthly on dates agreed at the first committee meeting following the Annual Meeting. The Secretary will send out the agenda and any relevant papers at least 7 days prior to the date of the meeting. Six members personally present shall form a quorum at a meeting of the Bowls Committee.
|04||Annual Bowls Meeting|
An Annual Meeting shall be held each year in the month of November on a date to be fixed by the Committee. The Bowls Committee Secretary shall at least twenty eight days before the date of the meeting circulate to each member notice hereof and at least fourteen days the business to be brought forward thereat. This may be either by post or electronically. A notice will also be posted on the notice board.
No business, except for the election of the Committee and any business that the Committee may order to be inserted in the notice convening the meeting shall be discussed at such meeting unless notice thereof be given in writing by a member entitled to vote to the Bowls Committee Secretary 28 days before the date of the Annual Meeting.
The Committee may at any time, upon giving twenty one days notice in writing, call a Special Bowls Meeting for any business, the nature of which shall be stated in the summons convening the meeting, and the discussion at such meeting shall be confined to the business stated in the notice sent to members.
The Committee shall call a Special Bowls Meeting upon a written request addressed to the Bowls Committee Secretary signed by at least SIX members. The committee shall meet within SEVEN days of the requisite number of requests, in order to call a Special Bowls Meeting. The Committee will give twenty one days notice in writing of any such Special Bowls Meeting. The discussion at such meeting shall be confined to the business stated in the notice sent to members.
At every meeting of the Bowls Committee the Chairman will preside, or in their absence, a Chair elected by a majority of those present shall preside.
Only Full Members shall vote at any General Meeting of the Bowls Committee. Other members may attend and speak but are not entitled to vote.
Voting, except upon election of members of the Bowls Committee, shall be by a show of hands.
In the case of equality of votes the Chairman (or other nominated person) shall have a second or casting vote, on any matter.
Twenty five percent of members entitled to vote at the relevant meeting and personally present shall form a quorum at any General Meeting of the Bowls Committee.
On any resolution properly put to a meeting of the Bowls Committee relating to the creation, repeal or amendment of any rule of the Bowls Committee such Rule shall not be created, repealed or amended except by a majority of at least two thirds of those present and entitled to vote.
|The committee will provide a full, varied and comprehensive fixture list each year so providing sufficient competitive bowling relating to the bowling membership. The committee will also co-ordinate and run Club Bowling events such as the Walter Ireland and Triples Gala etc.|
|The committee will ensure that all members have the opportunity to participate in National & County Competitions each year. The committee will annually organise Club Bowling Competitions and will actively encourage members to participate. The committee will organise annually a Club Competitions Finals Weekend. The committee will also support the arrangements for a Club’s Presentation evening.|
|The committee will actively try to recruit coaches for the club. The committee will support any open days or taster sessions the club decides to hold. The committee will hold a session for new bowlers where the etiquette of bowls can be highlighted. The committee will also hold coaching workshops which will be aimed at bowlers of all levels and if necessary outside coaches will be brought in to deliver these workshops.|
|Through the Development Officer the committee will ensure that new bowlers are fully integrated into the club. They will provide mentors if required and also explain when and where to purchase bowls kit.|
|Through the Club Contact and Bowls Committee Secretary all information coming into the club will be disseminated to the relevant people as required. All committee minutes will be passed to the Management Committee for information, circulated by e-mail to members and displayed on both the website and notice boards as appropriate.|
