Our club will run Open Days when you can just turn up and have a chance to experience the sport with our coaches in a very friendly and relaxed environment.
You don’t have to wait for that however you can make an enquiry to the club to have a go during the season which starts in April and finishes in September. Click on the Join Us link on the header above.
Dress
The image of players dressed in ‘whites’ is far from the reality these days. For newcomers playing informal bowls, the dress code is usually relaxed. A polo shirt, together with shorts or jeans would be our suggestion.
If you decide to join the club and start to play in club competitions or represent the club in other ways you will need a club shirt, grey or whites below the waist depending on the event.
Footware
In order to protect the greens it is most important to wear a pair of flat-soled shoes. A pair of trainers without a deep tread usually does the trick, you will need lawn bowls shoes when you start playing for real.
Bowls
You don’t have to buy any bowls at this stage we have sets that will be loaned to you initially , be warned though ! this sport is highly addictive and you will soon be investing in you own set often we have used sets advertised for sale at the club.
