Devizes Bowls Club

Balcomb Trophy 2025

Devizes Bowls Club did an amazing job hosting the Balcomb Trophy, and it was all made possible by an equally amazing team of volunteers working together preparing the greens and the premises, preparing and serving food and running the bar, and of course promoting & managing the event and dealing with the media – well done all concerned!

Congratulations to Dave Pretty

This is an excellent achievement and an inspiration to us all…

Well done Dave, on passing your Level 3 assessment whilst marking at the Balcomb Trophy!

Level 3 is the highest possible in Bowls England, which means Dave is now qualified to mark any Bowls England game, including National Finals!

Markers Course

The Markers Course run by the EBUA was a great success.  The indoor theory and outdoor practical sessions were quite intense and very informative but presented in a very relaxed and comprehensive fashion… and one of the coaches was none other than the Chief Umpire of the World Indoor Bowls Championships, Mr Allan Thornhill www.allanthornhill.com

Thanks to the members who attended and thank you to the great team in the kitchen who kept everyone fed and watered all day.

Ellen, Coaching & Development

Open Day Success!

A very big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make today’s Open Day such a great success!

Thank you to David Greenwood, President, who greeted everyone with a smile.  The admin staff who covered the paperwork and dealt with all the payments.  Members who helped select bowls and who took people onto the green… it was nice to see some youngsters having a go!  The friendly, hardworking Kitchen and Bar team who as always made everyone feel very welcome.
