Website posts for 2022

During 2021 the use of the website has improved a little but there is still much we can do with your help. Although the number of reports from team leaders was reasonable last year we appear to have taken a step back in 2022, therefore there is still room for a vast improvement.

The home made rink booking system worked very well last year after a few teething problems, but, there were some anomalies caused by erroneous bookings. This now cannot happen as we now have a fully functional professional rink booking package for you to use.

Rejuvenation of the website has now taken place and we hope you have noticed the cleaner lines and how much easier it is to find the information you need. The website will now continue to grow as we now have two more members who have administrative rights and are very capable of moving things on into the future. We welcome Ash Galloway and Kelvin Nash into the website team. I am sure they will contribute a great deal from now on.

We would like to ask ALL team leaders to communicate results and submit reports throughout the season or if they cannot do this themselves please nominate a team member who is willing to do so.

Remember its your site! and it can only be a good as the information provided.

President’s Message

President Rosemary

Message from our President.

With the continued worries about the Covid situation, particularly the new Omicron variant, it is very difficult to forecast exactly what the situation will be when the time comes to start the 2022 season.  I know that all the committees will be working hard to ensure that if we are able to bowl then the club will be ready to welcome you onto the green. Duncan Poole, our new fixtures secretary, has prepared a full bowling season with more teams than ever before and we will see the return of the handbook with all the usual details available for every playing member. The ladies will see the return of the Nor West League with Devizes entering a fourth team, the Wiltshire League that came into fruition last year will stay and we have two teams involved and there is the Seidel League as well. The men will also have the usual full programme of Four Rink, Three Rink, Mid Wilts Triples and Tea and Biscuits.  As to county competitions it is remarkable to see over 30 entries from the ladies and an increase in the number of men entering as well. Hopefully we will see the same support for the club competitions that will be organised this year by our new competitions’ coordinator Marie Greenwood. I hope everyone is looking forward to getting involved again and pray for some decent weather to support us.

In the meantime, stay safe and I look forward to meeting you all in the coming weeks.

Rosemary

NOTICE

There are now forms on the notice boards in both the ladies and men’s changing rooms where those who wish can sign up to play in county friendlies throughout the year. Please note that each sign up sheet has more than one game to choose from but one closure date at the bottom of the form.

THESE FORMS WILL BE TAKEN DOWN ONE WEEK BEFORE THE CLOSING DATE ON THE FORM.

Wiltshire Ladies

Many congratulations to the Ladies of Bowls Wiltshire Johns Trophy Team who, following a magnificent win over the highly rated Devon team, qualified for the national semi-finals to be held at Royal Leamington Spa on Saturday August 4th. We are very proud to say that the team includes our very own Ladies Captain Bev Lilley. Well done the ladies, well done Bev.

Should anyone wish to go and see them please refer to my email announcing that there is a coach organised by Bowls Wiltshire Ladies starting from Melksham.
