Open Day Success!

A very big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make today’s Open Day such a great success!

Thank you to David Greenwood, President, who greeted everyone with a smile.  The admin staff who covered the paperwork and dealt with all the payments.  Members who helped select bowls and who took people onto the green… it was nice to see some youngsters having a go!  The friendly, hardworking Kitchen and Bar team who as always made everyone feel very welcome.

The Greens are OPEN

With grateful thanks to Trefor, Dave and the Greens Team and all the volunteers, the greens are open.

The first bowls of the season were delivered by our chairman David, and our captains Ian & Ellen.

The weather was superb, encouraging lots of members to step on the the greens and have a roll up.

Club Short Mat Pairs

For the first time, Devizes Bowls Club held a pairs competition for its ESMBA registered league players. There was stiff competition, with 18 members taking part.

Congratulations to our winners, John Scoffield & Lynne Williams

and to the runners up, Colin Smith & Jane Evans

We hope to expand the short mat club competitions next year, making them available to all club members.

Many thanks to Rob Millar for organising this inaugural event.

Short Mat Success

Congratulations to Devizes Devils, who finished second in the Central Wiltshire league, retaining the shield won by Devizes Dragons last season!

This achievement is also the qualification to enter the Stevens Trophy, which will be played at North Wilts Indoor Bowls Club on Sunday 27 April.

Good luck!

GREENS TEAM

For those of you who thought that the Autumn renovations was the end of the work for the Greens Team until the season start, how wrong can you be.

We have been regularly mowing ! Slit tining , fertilising , spraying fungicides and lots of clearing up .

Trefor has been constantly examining the greens along with Dave and the corresponding actions taken mostly by a limited number from the team.

Today with 6 of the team members we were able, on both greens, to brush, mow and spray fungicide and Aquaritin . Moss was raked around the edges of the bottom green, ditches cleared, edging done and general tidy up. A great achievement !

We take this opportunity to remind all members that the team needs more support so do not hesitate to offer your help there is always something to do.

Just contact any of the team you know who they are don’t you !
